PAMELA HARRIS

PAMELA HARRIS had an extremely well-spent misspent youth. Her uncle, a poet, got her out of her small town and showed her the world. He lived on Leonard Cohen’s couch when he wasn’t homeless, and when she saw what writing did to him she vowed to flunk English. But oh, the specificity of words!

Most of Pamela’s writing has been original content for TV, film and stage. She’s had TV pilots packaged with 20th TV and others; she created a half-hour comedy for Howard Stern Productions; a feature script was selected for the Writers Lab, funded by Meryl Streep, Oprah and Nicole Kidman; she’s been selected for or awarded fellowships from Jentel Arts, Triangle Arts and Stowe Labs; she’s written for an Oxygen series, Life on the Line; she was nominated for the New York Stage and Theatre Screenwriters Workshop and was a finalist for the FilmNation/WGA Fellowship; and she directed and co-wrote an award-winning short film, En Route, that screened at many festivals. Pamela is also a visual artist and has exhibited extensively.

In 2016 Pamela Harris was a sit-in director for Wynn Handman. In Wynn’s honor, Pamela frequently names a character after him. Pamela is a dramaturg and consultant, and is currently producing a horror movie, Caligari, and directing a playwrights reading series. She’s a grateful member of NYWIFT, Honor Roll and The Dramatists Guild. She has a BFA from the Hartford Art School. Her plays include No Laughing Matter, Polite and The Great Silence.
